  1. IRIX 6.5 Applications, May 1999 README
  2. Silicon Graphics, Inc.

  4. The IRIX 6.5 Applications CD, May 1999 is a companion to IRIX 6.5.4 and 
  5. contains the IRIX Desktop and various desktop applications. This CD replaces 
  6. the IRIX 6.5 Applications CDs from June 1998, November 1998, and February 1999.
  7.  
  8. Many of the applications upgraded from the previous IRIX Applications CDs have 
  9. been included as overlays on the IRIX 6.5.4 Overlays, May 1999 CD. To install 
  10. the new versions of these applications you must install IRIX 6.5.4.  The images 
  11. contained on the IRIX Applications CD are the previously released IRIX 6.5 versions.

  15.   * Impressario 2.2.5
  16.   * Printing Tools 1.7.5 
  17.   * License Tools 3.3

  22.   * Fulltext Indexing and Search Environment 2.0

  27. Changes made to previous CDs include:
  28.   * Netscape, SGIMeeting, and CosmoPlayer have new editions on this
  29.     Applications CD.
  30.   * WebFORCE MediaBase clients are no longer available on this CD. 
  31.     They can be downloaded from:

  33.   * Insignia's SoftWindows95 version 5.0 shipping on its own CD.
  34.   * We are no longer supporting the Xing Streamworks Player.
  35.   * We are no longer shipping MediaMail or MediaMail Pro.
  36.   * Indigo Magic Desktop Applications have been renamed IRIX Interactive 
  37.     Desktop Applications.

  39. Important Notes About the Products
  40. ----------------------------------
  41. If you have insight_dev installed, you will need the November 1998 IRIX 
  42. Applications CD in order to upgrade insight_dev software during your 6.5.4 
  43. upgrade.

  45. If you want to use CosmoPlayer 1.1 to view VRML worlds, do not use Netscape 
  46. 4.5. Netscape 4.07 works with CosmoPlayer 1.1; both Netscape 4.07 and CosmoPlayer 
  47. 1.1 are shipped on the IRIX Applications 6.5, February 1999 CD. Netscape 4.5 or 
  48. later requires CosmoPlayer 2.1, which is not yet released.

  50. Netscape Communicator Client 4.51 is part of the default distribution
  51. on this CD. Customers who only use the browser functionality (and
  52. not the email, newsgroups, etc.) may prefer to install the Netscape
  53. Navigator Client (netscape_lite) 4.51. From Software Manager, open 
  54. /CDROM/dist/extras to install this product.

  56. Netscape's FastTrack Personal Server on this CD will upgrade and
  57. replace the original OutBox Webserver or previous versions of Netscape 
  58. FastTrack server.  Netscape Admin server is now included in the Netscape
  59. FastTrack 3.02a product.  You will not need to select the Netscape 
  60. Admin server for installation. Netscape FastTrack will work with OutBox, 
  61. and needs no special configuration.

  91. You may choose to read the release notes for products before
  92. installing them. You can now view the release notes easily
  93. from Software Manager: when you click on the product, the
  94. product name will highlight like a blue HTML link if there
  95. are release notes available. Simply click again on the link
  96. to bring up the Release Notes window.
